Summary of New Recommendations for the Use of Anticoagulant and Antiplatelet Agents in the 2007 ACC/AHA Guidelines for the Management of Patients With Unstable Angina/Non-ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction

  Printer-friendly version

In this update, Marc Cohen, MD, FACC, of Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ, examines the recommendations for use of anticoagulant and antiplatelet agents from the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association 2007 Guidelines for the Management of Patients With Unstable Angina/Non–ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction. Reviewing the results of clinical trials and meta-analyses published since the release of the 2002 Guidelines, Dr Cohen summarizes the data that led to guideline revisions. To help the physician faced with multiple recommended options for patient care, Dr Cohen provides strategies for putting guideline recommendations into practice.
