The Use of Heparin as Bridging Therapy When Long-Term Oral Anticoagulants are Interrupted for an Elective Procedure or Surgery

  Printer-friendly version

Bridging update edited by Dr Alex Spyropoulos and Dr Marc Cohen covering the use of heparin as bridging therapy when long-term oral anticoagulants are interrupted for an elective procedure or surgery, generated from a monograph on antithrombotic therapy in cardiovascular patients.

This activity has been developed for pharmacists and/or clinical pharmacists, and other health care professionals who treat the 3 main groups of patients affected by bridging therapy: patients with atrial fibrillation, patients with mechanical heart valves, and patients with previous venous thromboembolism.

This program is supported by an educational grant from sanofi-aventis U.S.
