GOAL OF THE ACTIVITY

Through completion of this activity, participants will become familiar with practical aspects related to clinical management of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and recognize how to reduce the risk of morbidity and mortality associated with VTE in obese patients.

INTENDED AUDIENCE

This activity is intended for surgeons, critical care physicians, cardiologists, general practice and internal medicine physicians and healthcare providers who treat postoperative patient populations who are at higher risk of thromboembolic complications due to obesity.

INFORMATION ON CME CREDIT

The EOCME designates this educational activity for a maximum of 0.5 category 1 credit toward the American Medical Association (AMA) Physician’s Recognition Award (PRA). Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

  • Risk stratify acute coronary syndromes
  • Implement a protocol for diagnosis of non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction vs ST-elevation myocardial infarction
  • Explain the rationale for necessity of hospital treatment guidelines in patients with unstable angina/non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction
